Sonia’s love of the natural world combined with her engineering background drew her to permaculture and natural building and eventually to the magical place known as Quail Springs. She was drawn not only to the elements of providing food, shelter and community in a sustainable manner, but really to the spirit of the people who give so much to make Quail Springs the sublime place it has grown to be.
Sonia, her husband Kevin, and daughter Kasey love to spend time backpacking, exploring and wandering throughout the local backcountry and the Sierra’s. Sonia extends her love of children and wild places with her work at Wilderness Youth Project, mentoring children of all ages through nature connections. She is also a storyteller and fire maker in training, and loves the lessons she learns every day from children, peers and nature.
