 With Sasha Rabin, Betty Seaman, & Paul Swenson Cob building combines clay sediment, sand, fiber, and water, and is hand sculpted to form walls, benches, ovens, and fireplaces. Cob building makes use of readily available, affordable, non-toxic materials to build beautiful, organic structures. The course is appropriate for both first-time builders and for professionals in the building trade who are interested in natural materials. In this cob workshop, we focus on the characteristics of the natural materials most commonly used in construction: clay soil, sand, and fibers.       Saturday, April 11 10am-4pm Farm Tour, Lunch, & Spring Plant Sale! All ages family-friendly event! Visit Quail Springs Permaculture Farm, have a delicious lunch prepared in our earthen ovens, and learn about growing food in the high desert, tending a variety of wonderful food-giving animals, creating shelter, and stewarding agricultural lands and wilderness.     A Wild Series Workshop in Earth-Based Crafts and Skills April 17 - 19, 2015 Instructor: Natalie Bartlett Beautiful footwear made sustainably from natural materials has been worn by human beings for thousands of years. In this class students will create a pattern customized to their own feet, and learn to craft a pair of short moccasins using genuine brain-tanned buckskin and vegetable tanned leather. This will be a 2 piece style moccasin, with a harder sole for longer wear.     A Wild Series Workshop in Earth-Based Crafts and Skills May 16 - 17, 2015 Instructor: JT Beggs Explore the delicious, fragrant and storied California landscape by learning to identify edible, utilitarian and poisonous species. Students will become acquainted with much of the local flora of Burges canyon and begin to develop real relationships to the world of plants.
